5:3 victory in second pre-season gameRed Bulls win against HC Motor České Budějovice// FirendlyEC Red Bull Salzburg won 5-3 against Czech first division team HC Motor České Budějovice in the second test match of the new season in České Budějovice. Forwards Luca Auer and Peter Hochkofler each scored twice.The Red Bulls without Chay Genoway, who was spared in this preparatory game, started the first period actively. Although HC Motor České Budějovice put good pressure on Salzburg goalkeeper David Kickert from the start, it was the Red Bulls who scored the first goal of the evening: Mario Huber played the pass from the opponent's goal line to Peter Hochkofler, who tucked the ball into the home goalkeeper's cross corner (6.). But this lead did not last long, because already in the 9th minute of the game the Czech first league team added to it through Brant Harris. In the last minute of the first period, the Red Bulls had to serve two penalties, which gave them a tough start to the second period.
In the following 5-on-3 shorthanded period, the Red Bulls stood strong at the beginning. However, České Budějovice used the last seconds of the double overtime and took the lead for the first time. The game increased in toughness, but the Salzburgers benefited from it. In the 31st minute of the game, it was once again Peter Hochkofler who not only scored his brace after a pass from Benjamin Nissner, but also scored for EC Red Bull Salzburg to tie the game at 2:2. In the 36th minute of the game, the 2600 spectators held their breath: Brant Harris skated alone towards Red Bull's goalkeeper David Kickert, who, however, strongly defused the break-away chance.
In the final period, the Red Bulls came out of the dressing room running and determined and were able to create good chances already in the first minute of the game. Despite conceding a goal through Martin Hanzl (42nd), Salzburg forward Luca Auer countered with the equalizer again just one and a half minutes later (44th). But the Salzburg striker had not yet had enough and also scored his brace in the 49th minute after a pass from Peter Hochkofler. The game went up and down despite a few penalty minutes on both sides, but the Red Bulls were able to assert themselves more and more. This was also rewarded with Ali Wukovits' goal (53rd) for the final score of 5:3.
