Red Bulls vs. HC Falkensteiner Pustertal
After yesterday's 2-1 victory in Bruneck, the South Tyrolean team leads the series 2-0, and another win would give them their first match point toward the semifinals. The Red Bulls are determined to prevent this and get back into contention.
Statement Dennis Robertson
Background
Yesterday was incredibly frustrating. After conceding the second goal in the 23rd minute, the Red Bulls largely dictated the game, but still had to fend off further good scoring opportunities from HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. The South Tyrolean team's tight defense, including a strong performance from goalkeeper Edward Pasquale, allowed only a few truly dangerous scoring chances despite a multitude of shots. For the third game, the Red Bulls need to find ways to create even more compelling scoring opportunities while simultaneously being careful not to fall victim to Pustertal's extremely dangerous counterattacks.
However, it's also a fact that Pustertal would have their first, or rather four, chances to reach the semifinals with another win. So far, they have played very compactly and, with experienced forwards – especially Henry Bowlby, who has scored in both of their previous games – possess the necessary offensive firepower to win games. The Red Bulls need a full game to hand the South Tyroleans their first defeat and somewhat dampen their current euphoria.
Playoff Series Down by Two Games
The Red Bulls have historically started seven playoff series with two losses. They managed to turn the series around three times (quarterfinals vs. Dornbirn in 2021 and 2014, finals vs. Linz in 2010), but four times they fell short (semifinals vs. KAC in 2021, semifinals vs. Vienna in 2019, finals vs. Bolzano in 2014 (best of five), and finals vs. VSV in 2006).
Roster Update
Forward Ali Wukovits left yesterday's game in Bruneck with a lower-body injury and will be out for an extended period. Lukas Hörl also remains unavailable. Brandon Coe will make his comeback and play his first playoff game with the Red Bulls on Saturday.

Statement by Dennis Robertson
"We created a lot of chances yesterday; we just have to finish them off. We're only focused on the moment now and don't want to look too far ahead. Only the next game, the next shift, matters. We have 100% confidence in our team's performance and now we have to win our first game."
