Highlights HCB Südtirol Alperia vs. Red Bulls
Game Summary
The opening phase, aided by an early power play, belonged to the home team. Bolzano's Daniel Mantenuto had the best chance from the half-high slot (4th minute). The Red Bulls then also made their way into the offensive zone, and Bolzano's goalie Sam Harvey was fortunate when the puck stopped just in front of the goal line after a shot slipped through his pads (6th minute). This put Salzburg fully in the game, though they were initially sparing with further high-quality scoring opportunities, but were already showing signs of intensity. Then the Red Bulls took the lead. Florian Baltram won the face-off, and Mario Huber fired a shot immediately (12th minute). After that, good shots increased on both sides. In the 16th minute, Matt Bradley scored the equalizer from distance on the power play, with Salzburg's goalie David Kickert unable to see. Bolzano remained the more aggressive team until the first intermission buzzer, but the score remained 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The second period began with Benjamin Nissner scoring a golden opportunity from the slot (21st minute). The Red Bulls came out firing, but Luca Frigo had the next chance. David Kickert made a brilliant save on the deflected shot (26th minute). The momentum shifted back and forth, and it was the close match everyone had expected. After a brief scramble in the Bolzano crease, the puck crossed the goal line, but the goal was disallowed for goaltender interference (28th minute). Kickert then made a superb save on the penalty kill to prevent Bolzano from taking the lead (30th minute), after which Salzburg really turned up the heat. Connor Corcoran, among others, had a chance from a sharp angle (34th minute). The final minutes saw some tense moments in front of the Salzburg net, but the score remained 1-1 after an intense but scoreless second period.
The final period became rough, and the Red Bulls defended a 3-on-5 penalty kill with great effort. Barely back to full strength and dangerous on the offensive, the Red Bulls found themselves shorthanded once again. Both teams battled for the game-winning goal, with some wild scenes unfolding in the heat of the moment. Peter Schneider had the next great scoring chance after a long spell of scoring on a 2-on-1 power play (54th minute), followed by Benjamin Nissner at the right post (57th minute). The Red Bulls failed to capitalize on a final power play before the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime. The overtime was thrilling but ultimately yielded no winner. In the shootout, only Troy Bourke scored, securing the extra point for the Red Bulls and extending their winning streak to eleven games.
Statement Manny Viveiros
Statement by Manny Viveiros
"Our penalty killing was very strong today. We knew that defense would be crucial in Bolzano. But everyone performed well and deserved the win. It wasn't easy to prevail in this tough game, but once again it was the little things that we did right as a team."
