The first step to becoming a professional ice hockey player The beginners training has started into the new season// JuniorSince the beginning of October, the beginners' training has been held again in the Eisarena Salzburg. With success: at each of the first three dates, more than 40 children were present and mastered their first steps on the way to becoming a pro.
The beginners training is divided into two parts: On the one hand into the Skating School, where the children learn to skate and have the first points of contact with the ice. Here, skating skills are an advantage, but not a must. "However, a previous visit to the public skating at the Eisarena Salzburg certainly does not hurt," reveals Mathias Barth, head coach of the beginners.

The Skating School is primarily aimed at children between the ages of four and six. There they learn how to stand up and fall down safely on the ice. Once the first steps have been mastered, the children move on to the second training group. In this group, skating technique is improved and the ice hockey stick is used more often for the first time.
Director of Development Youth, Andreas Brucker "It is surprising how many kids we already have at the beginner training, especially because it is still very warm outside! I am very pleased with this number and I hope that many will decide to stay with the club. Also with the Ice Hockey 1x1 in the Salzburg region, we generally try to bring as many kids as possible to the sport of ice hockey. The big goal for us is to get the kids from our junior team to the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy in Liefering and train them to become professionals there."
Coach Mathias Barth "Having fun on the ice is the most important thing. With the equipment, falling down is not a problem because the kids are well protected. We have skates and complete equipment including a stick and helmet for rent on site. If someone has their own skates, they are welcome to bring them. Otherwise, ski underwear to wear underneath will suffice."
Where can I sign up?
