Red Bulls aim for first success in top division against Ingolstadt First Salzburg home game of the new season // CHLThe Red Bulls play their first home game in the CHL Regular Season on Thursday against ERC Ingolstadt (20:20, ORF TVthek/ Sport+). After two initial away defeats, Salzburg is hot for its first win in the top division at home.
Home game at last! After the opening defeats in Skelleftea (0:4) and Mannheim (2:3), the Red Bulls are looking forward to the first home games in the CHL - for the Red Bulls it is the first home game of the still young season at all - and finally also want to score.
Especially in the second game against Mannheim last Sunday, the Salzburgers showed a game on par with the Germans at times, but were still too error-prone in some areas, which Mannheim mercilessly exploited. With two goals in the final phase, the Red Bulls then also showed their qualities in front of goal, but were unable to equalize.
Forward Thomas Raffl "We expect a good hockey game. With Ingolstadt comes a very strong team, but we want to focus on our game again, want to bring the things we set out to do on the ice. We've had two games so far, left the ice with zero points twice, and we want to change that tomorrow. And we're looking forward to finally playing in front of our own fans again."
ERC Ingolstadt ERC Ingolstadt started the CHL with two wins and will come to Salzburg with a broad chest. The Bavarians prevailed 5:3 at France's champion Rouen Dragons and also defeated one of Sweden's consistently strong teams (2022 champions), Färjestad BK, 3:2 at home. That makes the Ingolstadt team, which only lost to Red Bull Munich in the final last DEL season, the fourth-best team in the CHL at the moment.
The 52-year-old Canadian Mark French took over the team as head coach last season and immediately led it to the greatest success of the last eight years (2014 champion, 2015 final). The most dangerous Ingolstadt player at the moment is German-Polish Wojciech Stachowiak, who has scored three of the eight CHL goals.
